Fred Ducca is a research faculty member with the National Center for Smart Growth. His research activities focus on travel forecasting including advanced network analyses and the use of time dependent networks in analyzing transportation issues.
Dr. Ducca has more than 27 years of experience in travel forecasting with the Federal Highway Administration where he managed the Travel Model Improvement Program. This program focused on improving the existing practice of travel forecasting as well as advancing the state of the art in travel demand modeling. A critical element of the program was the development of TRANSIMS, a simulation tool which tracks the movement of both people and vehicles.
He holds a B.S. degree in Mathematics from St. Peter’s College, an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania.
