Tara Burke

Smart Cities Initiative / Research Development

Tara Burke is a research development professional with 12 years of higher education experience in the procurement of federal, corporate, and foundation research funds.  She supports all faculty, researchers, and educators in the School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation.  She has significant experience with the institutional and research structure at UMD and has worked with faculty across multi-disciplinary research areas.

In addition, Tara spearheads the Smart Cities Initiative at UMD, an interdisciplinary, cross-campus initiative and has supported a diverse number of projects – check out the SCI@UMD website (http://www.umdsmartgrowth.org/city/)!  Tara is a graduate of UMD – the last year they offered a degree in Zoology.  She has done field biology work in the remote Haida Gwaii archipelago and once helped Liam Cunningham remember his lines on Showbands before he became famous on GOT.
