The National Center for Smart Growth is staffed by eleven faculty members with appointments in several University of Maryland schools.  The NCSG also has several staff and research staff and annually employs about ten undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. research assistants.

Additionally, nearly two dozen University of Maryland faculty members, faculty from other academic institutions, and public and private sector professionals are affiliates of the National Center for Smart Growth. Areas of expertise include public policy, agricultural economics, American studies, geography, landscape architecture, engineering, urban design, architecture and community planning.
